Scott Nadler

Scott Nadler is a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. As a member of the firm’s National Security Team, his focus is on improving strategic planning/communications within the U.S. intelligence community. Scott was Senior Policy Writer for the Clinton/Gore ’96 Reelection Campaign. From 1997-2001, he served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, first as Country Director for Russia, then Ukraine, and finally, the Caucasus. After leaving the Pentagon, and as a consultant with the RAND Corporation, Scott helped to launch the Republic of Georgia’s first independent think tank devoted to national security issues. He received an M.Phil in Russian and East European Studies from St. Antony’s College, Oxford University.


  Peter Najera

Pete Najera is an Armor Officer in the United States Army currently serving as a Pol-Mil Planner in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  Earlier in his career, he patrolled the Cold War border between East and West Germany, participated in ground combat during the Persian Gulf War, commanded two Cavalry Troops, and served as a Battalion Operations Officer (S3) and Executive Officer (XO) at the Combat Maneuver Training Center.  Additionally, Pete has worked in the Executive Office of the President as the Special Assistant to the Deputy United States Trade Representative and in the Pentagon as a strategist and policy analyst on the Army Staff.  Pete is a former White House Fellow, US-Japan Leadership Fellow, Salzburg Seminar Fellow, and British-American Fellow.  He is currently a term member in the Council on Foreign Relations.  He earned his BBA from the University of Notre Dame, his MPA from Harvard, and his MBA from Touro University International.
 

John A. Nagl

Lieutenant Colonel John Nagl is a military assistant in the office of the Deputy Secretary of Defense. An Armor officer, he is a graduate of West Point and holds the M.Phil. and D.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University. His doctoral dissertation has been published as "Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife: Counterinsurgency Lessons from Malaya and Vietnam", a book described as a "cult classic" by National Review Online. Nagl taught national security studies at West Point's Department of Social Sciences, led a tank platoon in Operation Desert Storm, and served as the Operations Officer of a tank battalion task force in Khalidiyah, Iraq from September 2003 through September 2004. He has been selected to command a tank battalion in 2006.


Ramzi Nemo

While completing his doctorate at American University’s School of International Service, Ramzi Nemo works as a political risk analyst with ITOCHU Corporation. His DC experience includes reporting for Defense Daily, as well work at the Center for Global Development, the US Institute of Peace, and Business Executives for National Security. He has also completed an internship at the Office of UN Political Affairs at the Department of State. Ramzi holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, as well as a master’s degree from William & Mary.
 

Tim Nank

Department at the US Embassy Baghdad is back at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) currently working on nuclear nonproliferation policy issues. Tim's main focus is assisting in formulating policy that reduces the threat to U.S. national security by securing nuclear weapons, weapons-usable nuclear materials, and radiological sources in Russia, the former Soviet Union, and other countries of concern, as well as enhancing the detection of illicit trafficking of nuclear and radiological materials. Prior to his current position, Tim worked under Tom Ridge at the White House Office of Homeland Security. In his capacity as Director of Academe & Policy, Tim built partnerships with academic institutions to develop homeland security policies and initiatives.

Tim has a BA from Columbia University of New York, a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and (short of foreign language proficiency) is completing his second MA in International Affairs from Tufts University, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Tim also has done graduate studies and certifications from Oxford University, National Defense University, Joint Military Intelligence College and the CIA University.
 

  Colin Newlin

Colin Newlin is Chairman and Chief Project Consultant of Braintree Solution Consulting, a Washington, DC based firm offering socioeconomic development, policy research, and management consulting services to domestic and international organizations. An innovator and specialist in managing complex systems, his professional expertise draws upon five divergent skill sets and experiences: socioeconomic development, organizational management, journalism, policy analysis and consulting.

Mr. Newlin advises organizations and elected officials in several U.S. states, cities and territories. A regular instructor for the Duke University Nonprofit Management Program since 1999, he has also served on the faculty of the annual Duke Leadership Institute. Mr. Newlin regularly makes results-oriented presentations on management theory and practice at universities, conferences and symposiums.

International interests led to Mr. Newlin’s current service as Chair of the District of Columbia chapter of the United Nations Association, an office through which he has hosted a bimonthly lecture series on international affairs since 2000. Mr. Newlin has also been a guest lecturer at the Graduate School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University and is a member of the Society for International Development.


  Benjamin Nicholson

Ben is a Coast Guard officer currently assigned as a Congressional Fellow to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Homeland Security.  Ben has been a fellow for three years, working for two subcommittees.  His previous tours include engineering and policy work at Coast Guard Headquarters and operations in the Caribbean basin as both a Deck Watch and Engineering Division Officer aboard the Cutters DECISIVE and RESOLUTE.  Ben has earned two Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and as Bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
